Our Focus…

All of our coaches and the staff at CrossFit 806 are focused on one thing… Helping you achieve your fitness goals. They are what makes CrossFit 806 the best strength and conditioning program provider in Amarillo. Let’s face it, there is a lot of noise out there telling you what you should do to get fit. With all of the gym offers, specialized machines, and infomercials, there can be a sense of skepticism and frustration about whom to trust and what really works. In all of the examples above, YOU have to research, identify, monitor, and modify your strength and conditioning program for it to be successful. And even if you consistently invest hours on your fitness, many of the programs, machines, and gym facilities simply cannot provide a program that produces full body fitness over the long term. At CrossFit 806, our coaches take care of all of this. All you have to do is consistently show up and push yourself in the workouts our coaches design. That is it.

All of our coaches are Certified CrossFit instructors who are enthusiastic about motivating and instructing each of our members to achieve a higher level of fitness. Our coaches’ experience and technical knowledge in applying the CrossFit methodologies will produce measurable results over time regardless of where your fitness level is when you start. Whether you are attending a scheduled CrossFit class, or you have arranged individual personal training from one of our coaches, you will be receiving instructions, demonstrations, knowledge, and support that will take the guesswork out of getting fit.

Michael Haning

Michael has been a CrossFitter since 2008, and coaching since 2010.  He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Masters in Business Administration, and has CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, CrossFit Endurance, and CrossFit Mobility certifications, as well as completing the Coaches Prep Course.  Michael is married to Hannah.

Whitney Rel

Whitney is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, and is certified in CF Gymnastics and CF Power Lifting. She has been CrossFitting for over 4 years and has been a coach at CrossFit 806 since it opened in 2010. Whitney is also a licensed massage therapist, and owns Calming Concept Massage Therapy. Whitney is married to Jason.

Kyle Cato

Kyle is a CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Mobility, and CrossFit Football coach. He also is a first grade teacher in Amarillo. Kyle has been involved with sports and general fitness his entire life. He started doing CrossFit with Michael Haning in August 2010, in a garage with two barbells, bumper plates, two kettlebells, and a pullup bar. Everything changed in December 2010 when CrossFit 806 started. What Kyle likes most about CrossFit is that anybody can do it and it challenges everybody that does it. Kyle and his wife Cayla are huge fans of gingers!

Hannah Haning

Hannah started CrossFit in September of 2009, and has been passionate about health and fitness ever since. She has been coaching at CrossFit 806 since March of 2011, has completed the Coaches Prep Course, is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, and is certified in CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Mobility. Hannah also loves to talk about nutrition and the Paleo Diet, and spends her extra time making Paleo baked goods, playing music, and traveling. Hannah is married to Michael, and they are expecting their first baby in April 2014.

Angie Amphay

Angie started CrossFit in August of 2011. She is a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer, and runs the Cardio Bootcamp at CrossFit 806. She and her husband Apollo have two kids, Samantha and Devin, who are also both in CrossFit. She has a degree in photography and loves to watch and cheer for anything that her kids are involved in.

Derek Bailey

Derek is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. He started CrossFit 806 one year ago, and has enjoyed a year of gains while learning the sport of CrossFit. Derek, or “Brick” as he is better known, has been an Amarillo fireman for 10 years and enjoys soccer, marathon running and boxing. He is married to fellow CrossFit athlete Keisha and is father to Nathan and Aubrey.

Adam started Crossfit on May 15, 2012. He is a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer. Adam’s athletic background includes soccer, tennis, mixed martial arts, and endurance road cycling. Outside of Crossfit, Adam enjoys creating abstract art, writing poetry, and sharing good food with friends.

mitch - crossfit Mitch Grider

Mitch Started Crossfit in February of 2013. He is a Crossfit Level 1 trainer. He attended college at Eastern New Mexico University, where he played football and ran track for four years. He then graduated from West Texas A&M University with a degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences. While attending WTA&M he coached football and then moved on to coach football at San Jacinto Christian Academy for 6 years. He has attended the USAW Olympic lifting class and received his Olympic lifting coaching certification. He now works for Xcel Energy. He is married to Jessica Grider, who also enjoys Crossfit. They have three children; a daughter, Kasey, and two sons, Dillon and Derek.
