Bio
Carla was born and raised in SW Kansas but moved to Amarillo to attend WTAMU and fell in love with the Texas Panhandle.
After graduating WT with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, she went back to her hometown of Liberal, KS for a short time before moving back to Amarillo permanently. Carla started working for the Amarillo Police as a dispatcher, and then attended the Fighting 66th Academy and has been a police officer for the city since 1996. Currently she is a Sergeant and Public Information Officer/Social media manager.
Carla enjoys traveling anywhere she can, she is an action movie junkie, and spending time with friends and family as much as possible. Also, COFFEE and pizza and of course, donuts, are her favorite foods. She is a member of a women’s running group, Amarillo RoadRunners, the webmaster for another running club, Lone Star Runners Club, President Elect for the Amarillo Area CASA, and has served on various other non-profit boards and groups for several years. Her plans when she decides to retire from police work are to volunteer for CASA, Meals on Wheels, and Snack Pack for Kids and others as well. And continues to CrossFit and coach (duh!)
Carla has 3 dogs, 2 pitties and a 3-legged chihuahua, all rescues. They are spoiled rotten, and they know it.
Carla tried CrossFit for the first time in 2010 when 806 first opened its doors but didn’t last very long at that time. She came back in 2014 and has been a member of CrossFit 806 since. Her closest friends are the ones she has made in the gym over the past 10 years. In 2020, Carla obtained her CF-L1 and just this past April 2024, her CF-L2 and began coaching at 806.
