Bio
Richard was born in Amarillo and raised in the Lubbock area. He served in the Army right after high school
from 2006-2012. He was a Blackhawk helicopter mechanic and really enjoyed getting to fly
with the aircraft for his job. Richard has lived in Korea, Honduras, Afghanistan as well as Kentucky.
Richard is married to fellow CrossFit Kids coach, Allie Rodriguez. He is a father of four daughters.
(Josie 10, Maggie 7, Chloe 7, and Ruby 3).
He has done CrossFit on and off since 2012, having
been a part of different gyms in Amarillo, Lubbock and the Fort Worth area. Interesting fact,
CrossFit 806 was the very first box where Richard tried CrossFit out back in 2012! He enjoys summer league
volleyball and softball with his wife. He also has love for trail running, hiking, and tennis. Richard is also in a local
running club called the “Amarillo Pub Runners”. They meet on Thursdays, when in season, go
run a few miles, and then drink beer afterwards. The next hobbies he would like to conquer are
pickleball and jiu-jitsu.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CROSSFIT:
Its so cliché but the people. The community. I love to talk a lot and get to know new
people. Sometimes the bonds and friendships formed at CrossFit have been more
powerful than the workouts. Sometimes they have had a greater impact on my life. I have
made so many lifelong friendships from CrossFit alone. There is something about
“Embracing the Suck” together.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT CROSSFIT 806:
It is definitely the CrossFit Kids program. I love the fact that my kids get to come to the gym
and get to do a version of CrossFit that is doable for them. Im going to love the day that ALL
our kids are in a WOD with us when they’re in the adult classes.
That, and the showers. No one likes going to work all sweaty.
WHAT CLASSES DO I COACH:
CrossFit Kids on Thursday with Allie.
